Photo location info remover

Remove the location from a photo

A photo taken on a phone usually records the exact spot it was taken: latitude, longitude, altitude, even the direction the camera was facing. That is enough to pin your home, your route or where you were at a given time. Drop a photo in below to strip it.

Runs entirely in your browser. Your photo is never uploaded or stored.

What this removes

It clears the GPS block: the latitude and longitude, the altitude, the facing direction, and the GPS timestamp. On a JPEG this is done directly, so the picture is untouched and only the location tags go. Other tags such as the camera and dates are left in place, so reach for the full metadata remover if you want everything gone.

What it cannot remove

Stripping the GPS tag removes the coordinates a file hands over for free, but it does not change what the picture shows. A street sign, a shopfront, a skyline or a house number can still place a photo, and location-guessing tools read those pixels whether or not any GPS tag remains. Finding and softening those visual cues is a heavier job that needs a model, which is where a GPU-backed version goes further than this free strip.

Your photo stays on your device

Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the clean copy is built locally when you click download. If a location is found you can check it on a map first, and only if you click that link are the coordinates ever sent anywhere. Your original file is never changed.
