Black out text in a screenshot before you share it
Drop in a screenshot or photo and this reads the text in it and boxes each word, so you can black out a name, an address, an account number or an email. It misses some text, so you can draw a box over anything by hand too. The black bars are burned into the picture you save, not a layer that can be lifted off.

PNG keeps every pixel exact; JPEG is smaller. The redaction is flattened into the image either way.
Black it out, do not just blur it
A blur or a mosaic over text is risky: the shapes of the letters still shape the smear, and software that models the distortion can sometimes read short, known-format text like a number back out. A solid black bar removes the pixels entirely, so there is nothing left to recover, which is why this tool blacks out by default. Blur and pixelate are there for when you want to obscure a region without the hard black look, but for anything that must not be read, use the black bar.
The scanner is a helper, not the whole job
OCR finds most clear, level, printed text but skips handwriting, stylised logos, faint or angled text and small print. It also cannot judge what is sensitive, only you know which name or number matters. Read over the whole image and box anything by hand that should not be shared, and delete any boxes the scanner put where you do not want them.
Flattened into the image
What you download is a single flattened picture with the redaction drawn into the actual pixels. There is no separate layer, no hidden original and, unlike a marked-up PDF, nothing underneath to peel back. If you started from a file with metadata, run it through the metadata remover afterwards as well.
