What this removes
For a Word, PowerPoint or Excel file it clears the document properties, the author and last-modified-by names, the company, manager and template, the editing software, revision count and the created and modified dates, and empties any custom properties. The slides, cells or text of the document are repacked untouched. For a PDF it blanks the author, title, subject, keywords, the creating and producing software and the dates, and clears the XMP metadata where the PDF stores it in the open.
What it cannot reach
This clears the properties panel, not anything written into the body of the document itself: a name typed on a title slide, tracked changes you have not accepted, or comments still in the file stay put, because they are content, not metadata. Review the document itself before sharing. A PDF that keeps its metadata inside a compressed stream may also hold traces this in-browser pass cannot rewrite safely.
