No two recorders sound exactly alike. Each leaves a faint fingerprint, a little subsonic offset, a particular roll-off at the top end and a steady noise floor, that can help tie a clip back to the device that made it. This re-shapes that response and masks the noise floor so the recording no longer carries your device's tell, on your machine.

What a device leaves behind
A recorder's microphone and electronics colour everything they capture. There is often a slow subsonic offset below hearing, a gentle loss of the very top frequencies that varies by device, and a hiss floor with its own shape. None of that is the sound you meant to record, but together it can act as a signature. This high-passes the subsonic, evens out the top end and lays a thin, even bed of noise over the floor so the original shape is buried.
Turn it up only as far as you need
Low strength barely touches the sound and still removes the subsonic and some of the tell; higher strength scrubs harder and adds a little more masking noise, at a small cost to fidelity. Preview and pick the lowest setting that sounds right to you.
What this does not do
This disrupts simple device-colour matching. It is not a defence against forensic device identification, which can use deep sensor and microphone traces, and it does not remove a watermark or metadata, use the metadata tools for those.
Compare, then download in any format
After you apply, the Before and After players sit side by side so you can pick the lowest strength that still sounds right. Then download the result as lossless WAV or FLAC, so the re-shaping is not undone by re-compression, or as a smaller MP3, M4A or Opus. M4A and Opus are offered only when your browser can create them.
