What this removes
It clears the written tags, the title, artist, album, comment, copyright and lyrics, along with the encoder and device tags and any embedded album art. On an MP3 this is done directly by removing the ID3 tag blocks, so the audio is not re-encoded and its quality is untouched. Other formats such as FLAC, M4A and Ogg are re-saved as a WAV instead, which drops every tag with no quality loss but makes a larger file, because there is no lossless in-browser way to rewrite their tags yet.
What it cannot remove
Tags are only the label on the file, not the sound inside it. Clearing them does not change the audio, so anything carried by the recording itself stays: the voiceprint that can identify a speaker, a faint mains hum that can time-stamp when it was recorded, and the room acoustics that hint at where. Those need tools that reshape the audio, not just strip its tags, which is what the voice anonymiser and a GPU-backed cleaner go on to do.
